Course Content:

 

 

Academic Upgrading is designed to provide adult learners with the academic skills required to obtain meaningful employment or to pursue a career choice through further education at post secondary level. Our learner centred teaching approach helps to improve written and verbal communication skills.

 

Features of Program:

 

• Individualized learning plans with a standard student:teacher ratio of 3:1

 

• The program provides computer-assisted learning for selected classes

 

• The program operates year-round with flexible hours and continuous intake

 

• An academic assessment is required

 

 

 

Program Description:

 

Basic Education (Grades 1-6)

These courses are for adults who speak and understand English but require basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills in order to obtain employment.

 

(Grades 7-9)

 

These courses are for adults who require upgrading of their basic skills in English and Mathematics to prepare for employment or further education.

 

(Grades 10-12)

 

These courses are for adults who require upgrading to the grade ten level or higher to obtain meaningful employment, to enter an apprenticeship program or to pursue career choices through post-secondary education.

 

 

 

Please Note: The recommended hours of instruction can be time-lined at the discretion of the funding agency; options include 15, 20, or 30 hours per week.  Clients benefit from the tailored programs and low student-teacher ratio that Pathways offers. Our standard student-teacher ratio is 3:1. Unless otherwise stated, quotes are based on an average rate of progression and include the cost of tuition, books, materials, fees, taxes, etc.
